William Hogarth - The Five Orders of Perriwigs
William Hogarth produced this fabulous image in 1761 shortly after the Coronation of King George III. Not only does it lampoon the contemporary practice of wearing extravagant wigs, but also the fashion for classical architecture. The wigs are divided into five orders, just as classical architecture is divided into five orders. This is a blank A5 (148 x 210mm) greetings card printed on 350g/m² card stock and comes complete with Ivory hammered envelope.
