This leather pocket book is a unique and unusual item, that has been hand-crafted in our studio using techniques. materials and dyes that are now little used.   Each book takes us around five hours to make from beginning to end. Made of a Vegetable tanned leather, we have dyed the leather a subtle and classic shade of Tan using Oak bark.  We use a method of dyeing that dates back to the Middle Ages and produces a colour that is rich, but translucent and doesn't mask the natural qualities of the leather.  The dyed leather has been dressed with beeswax and tallow, which gives it a soft feel.  The pocket book has been sewn together by hand with a single line of saddle stitching using cream linen thread.  This gives the book a robust construction ensuring that it will last for years.   The book comes complete with an paper insert, 70 pages ivory laid paper, which is secured in an internal pocket. This has been soft-bound in Italian hand blocked paper.  There is a second shaped internal pocket to hold your credit or business cards.    The paper insert measures 10cm by 15cm and the whole pocket book is 17cm by 11cm.   If you fill up your paper insert you can buy another from us, or alternatively use one of Moleskine's 'Field Notes' inserts, which also fit.
